Seeing the title i assumed this was in tweens and teens. in which case, yes, i would be upset. during college, i’d be concerned. after college, still concerned but they are adults at some point parents no longer get to be angry at life choices their adult children make.

Kind of, but the reality is accidents happen, and birth control doesn't work 100% of the time. I've been telling my kids since they were young they are not to become parents until at least age 30, so they have time both for their brains to fully develop AND have a few years with those fully formed brains to experience adult life. So they know to get an abortion.

Mad, no. Concerned/worried/disappointed (in both their choices and my own parenting in not helping them make better ones), yes.

Right? Way to broad a question without an age/stage of life. I would love to be a grandmother one day, and if my kid who is married, has a steady job, and owns a house told me they were expecting, I'd be thrilled!
My youngest who is 16 and in high school? Not so much.

My kids are 20 and 23.

If it was a girlfriend I would not be upset. If it was a rando I’d be disappointed but it is what it is.

I don’t think unwed pregnancies is a huge deal. I know many people who did this and have a great life. I know at least 10 good friends who got pregnant unwed or their kids did. Most staying in college, figured it out, pro choice friends.

Oddly my super conservative trumper cousin’s son 17 got his girlfriend pregnant and she is freaking out, hiding the grandchild, etc. I find pro life people are so crazy about it.

I am reporting from the field that teen pregnancy is a terrible idea.

I got pregnant at 19 but I had been married for a year already and stayed married entirely through raising my kids.

I look back now and am more than happy that I had my kids young. I will concede however that I was not the typical idiot teenager. I was and still am a great mom and that's thanks to my own mother in large part.

Lots of different stories for lots of different people. It is probably true that most teenagers cannot handle motherhood quite yet though. Even so, I would never push anyone to have an abortion even though I am very much pro-choice.

Given that I got pregnant at 18, I would push for an abortion if it were my daughter and pray that the girl was smart enough to have an abortion if it were my son.
