I reused an essay with updates/revisions. It was still pretty accurate (more about our family than child).

They're still in Ravenna.

Seriously? I had no idea.

OP here-yes, you can open up by year. we first applied in 2018 and it's all there.

My post was made in jest but thank you all for your replies. we ended up re-writing the essays.
Interestingly, our thoughts on the school haven't changed that much in 5 years--ultimately a school is a school.
We haven't developed any profound or unique insights during our time there.

This would have been useful knowledge last year. Alas, I have no more private school applications and would not apply to a college that asked for a parent essay.

OP here. Yes! If this application is successful they're our last parent essays and Ravenna experience ever. Hallelujah. We have applied 3 kids during 5 different admissions seasons (total--not per kid).

Don’t you have anything new to add after actually being a part of the school?

If you are already at the school and like the school and your younger child is qualified then I think it is okay to be lazy.

I would rewrite and incorporate how your older kid’s experience has confirmed the the things you wrote the first time about why you’re interested in the school.

Oh, come on! This is not the type of situation where accusations of self-plagiarism are a concern.

Just went through this. Our consultant said, in our specific situation, it was fine to use the same to the extent still accurate, but when I pulled the old responses up they were wildly inaccurate. You can't, for example, describe a preschooler the same way you would describe a sixth grader. School involvement and extracurriculars were all different too. Once you get into it, you'll see that you wouldn't write the same thing. It was easier for me to just start from scratch.
