I wouldn't have thought they would be, but soon after I got back from Paris a friend posted how she's jealous that she doesn't get to go to places that look like they are out of Conde Nast like some friends do.

Yup, I’m one of those people you all hate and think I’m gauche. I don’t care, scroll past or unfriend me. I also post lots of food pics.

Yes to both of your questions. Photos are taken sparingly and for personal use only.

DP. I didn’t grow up rich and is also think it’s gauche to post travel pics. I love looking back at my own pics. They’re my memories. But I don’t expect anyone else to truly care. It’s sort of like telling people about your dreams. It’s cool that it’s fascinating to you, but trust me, no one else cares to hear about it.

Well, I do, so there goes your argument that “no one” cares. When my friends and family post, I like to look. It’s ok if you skip it. We’re just not each other’s people.

I hate it when people post daily from their trips. I don’t bother looking at more than a handful of pictures unless they’re really unusual even when people post once after their return.

1.) If you are enjoying your trip that much - you don't have time to keep posting!

2.) I have friends who contract with major publications, and are contracted to get paid almost immediately for their work, so they definitely don't post that much.

3.) It is a clear security issue to announce when you are out of town, on SM.

I often post pics of significant trips on FB because I have gotten great travel ideas from friends postings on FB. Eg I went to Slovenia after seeing a friend's pics and also included certain places in Arizona based on another's. I also know some of my friends have been inspired to visit places I have posted about. But I don't post pics from a regular trip to Rehoboth or NY etc. And I also understand why some people might think this is obnoxious.
