OP's daughter found out, didn't she? It was certainly revealed to her.

DP here, and not a lawyer, but I don't think stores have to have every regulation posted. It makes them easier to enforce, but for something for which they might ask someone to leave, I don't think it has to be posted. There are plenty of reasons a store might ask a customer to leave that aren't posted.

This happened to me recently too. Loudoun has a .5 bag tax so I don’t use the store’s bags anyway. It was annoying but I shrugged it off. Good lesson to hang on to your receipt.
