I’ll be the lone dissenter and say I have no faith in DCPS creating a high school out of nothing and will not be offering my child at Hardy now as a Guinea pig. We have submitted applications far and wide to get our child in a different place.

Also, Hardy sucks this year. The lack of anything other than academic classes and the daily fights among students plus locked bathrooms and locker rooms, we are done if at all possible.

OP, I have 2 kids that are in this position and I don't see anyone jumping ship yet. Hardy is ok. Not great, and there's certainly improvements to be made, especially since the elementary feeder we came from was so amazing. I think you'll see more people jump from DCPS in middle school for reasons that have more to do with the decline in quality overall, than due to solely the new high school.

Does anyone have information from that Ward 3 Ed Net meeting about sports, extracurriculars, academic offerings? Seems like it would be most helpful to discuss facts rather than wild conjecture.

There’s no clear information of curriculum with class offerings, extracurriculars, etc….

Unless DCPS can get their act together to be transparent about leadership, curriculum, sports, extracurriculars, etc… I don’t think many families are going to take the risk with their kids being the 1st of a brand new high school.

Principal MacCray did a Zoom with the Ward 3 EdNet this week. I thought he was about as forthcoming as possible.
