But for the record, homeless people have the same right as you and I do to use public space, so yes, I would hope they will be "allowed" to be in the park when construction is complete. (I live a few blocks from there and walk past this park every day taking kids to and from school, before you accuse me of just hating on Ward 3 or whatever.)
The reality is that DC takes a much different view of camping on city property than Federal property. If unhoused people do inhabit that location, I expect the city will be vigorous about removing them.
There is an unhoused resident in a tent at Wisc and Fessenden park, who hasn't been removed.
Probably because it is NPS and not DC land. Laws are different regarding camping on Federal land, which is makes it harder to remove these encampments when they go up in NPS parks. While the Council has not stopped the mayor from bulldozing or otherwise removing any encampment on DC land.

Anonymous wrote:ugh! how is that safer, since it will direct River Road traffic to Albemarle in front of the school. Honestly that crosswalk on the South side of Albemarle and Wisconsin is probably the scariest in DC -- the entire intersection is unsafe, and I've seen people 2 girls hit there.
Also, that means people will have to left turn into the Container Store/Target parking lot, which is so annoying but I guess that means it will have no traffic turning right onto Conn except people exiting the garage.
