Oh, and your OP is incorrect and misleading. Because she said thank you.
You should change it to: Nanny only thanked us once instead of 2+ times, should we be offended?

It’s just unusual to me since I’ve never given someone a gift and not had them mention to me what it was when thanking me. She was given a substantial check so I don’t even know if she opened the card. Guess I’ll find out if she deposits it. Just not what I am used to.
You are her employer, not family or friend. She said thank you and that's enough. An email or text would be nice but the check was a job bonus not a gift so you're demanding a thank you is silly. Do you thank her every day for all she does?
Anonymous wrote:It might be cultural too. Sending a thank you note after you already said thank you in person is not something people necessarily do elsewhere.

This could be it. Honestly every preschool teacher we’ve given gifts to has written a thank you card and other sitters have thanked us after they opened gifts/gift cards etc.
Do you send hand written thank you cards for all of your holiday presents?
I do not, nor am I expecting one. However I do specifically thank the person who gave me a gift for the particular gift(s) they give me. This was how I was raised.
