One small company i worked for froze my balance to what I paid in the minute I put in my notice. The trick is to expend all your FSA before they freeze your balance as you can spend before you contribute.

They can still submit the receipt to be manually reimbursed. FSAs go buy date the item is purchased/service incurred. Not the date something is shipped or delivered.

Note amazon won't charge your FSA card until it ships, so you may want to consider other options.

OP just wanted to say sorry to hear you were laid off today. It sucks. I was laid off in the great recession and it was a personal and professional blow but I used the opportunity to switch career paths and that led to a new career that I love and a lot of other great things on a personal level. Good luck and take some time to smell the roses.
