Thanks all!

OP here. In terms of difficulty, any trends in the pregnancies? My first was fine, second I gained a ton of weight somehow and was extremely uncomfortable. How were your pregnancies?

30, 32 and 35. I feel young around the parents of other kids in my oldest’s class. If I was just having my first now we’d be in a stronger financial position (both of our careers really ramped up right after I had my first, but so did our childcare costs) but on the other hand it’s nice to be out of the baby phase and still have some of your 30s left.

From a fertility and complications likelihood standpoints, getting pregnant at 35 is very different from getting pregnant at 40. For example, your chance of having a child with Down syndrome at 35 is 1 in 350. At 40, it's 1 in 100.

Girl read the room. I had my first at 38 and wasn’t even the oldest or second oldest in my pace group.

28. I don't think 38 or 39 is too old to have a third.

35. I had my kids at 31, 34, and 35. I don't think 38 is too old, but there is a higher likelihood that it will be more difficult to conceive, that you will miscarry while trying to conceive, and that you will have a higher likelihood of having a child with chromosomal abnormalities or autism than if you were in your 20s or early/mid-30s. None of these are reasons not to try if you really want a third. Not sure how old your youngest is or if you've had your second yet, but I would wait until your second is at least a year. It's better for your body if you wait 12 months before getting pregnant again (likelihood of complications is lower) and you also want your youngest to get some time as the baby before you displace them.

I had twins at 38 (numbers 2 and 3). I probably would have tried for a third at 40 if I hadn't had twins so don't think having at 38 is too old. I am slightly on the older side for parents in the class that my twins are in w/r/t their friends who are the oldest but there are certainly other moms in the same class as my twins who are older than me or same age- all to my knowledge have older siblings as well.

I had #3 at 35 and #4 at 38. So far, so good. It's not any harder than when I had #1 at 31. If anything, I am better and more efficient at all the parenting things, plus I know not to sweat the small stuff like I did as a FTM.
