Op, if you're used to working with kids, consider being a nanny. No it's not always easy, but it pays decently well and you're not starting from scratch. A hard part of new jobs is the learning curve.

I've done this as well as tutoring. I don't really want to do it anymore (or deal with parents and their overbearing anxieties/ambitions/fakery). I like teaching kids, but parents and administrative work make it hard. And the kids themselves have changed over the past 15 years.

I have an easy job. I work a good 4 hours a day and the rest is intermittent. Have busy periods a few times a year where I may put in a full 40 hours or even work overtime. Retirement is x contribution at the end of the year based on salary.

I work with chill people who treat me like an adult and understand that I have a life outside of work. Some days are interesting, some are dull. Not a job for an extrovert as 99.9 of my communication is via email or website.
I thought about teaching or going back to school but I'll make more than my teacher friends ina few years who have masters degrees. Our HHI income will be 200k in a few years and that's good enough for me.
I agree that admin wouldn't be a good fit. That's why I don't want to go into school administration, even though that's where the money is and where more senior teachers want to be.
What is your easy job?

I know it wouldn't be easy, but I tend to be a good listening and reader of people - I've always thought some sort of counseling work would fit my skills. And with many sessions being remote these days, I wouldn't have to worry about safety / physical conflict as much as I would in that sort of role.

Do not get an MSW, there are no easy social work jobs, and it's also underpaid (but some find it rewarding, and there are ways to have an ambitious career as well).

What do you do?
I’m an admin on duty at my local VA. We staff one person 24/7 to handle emergencies. Day shifts have a few more administrative tasks and phone calls and sometimes fires to put out, but after hours shifts you run a few reports and mostly sit around and wait for something to happen. I watch a lot of tv.
