It’s based on whether you choose to get brainwashed by MCPS or work in multiple school systems. Experienced teachers get sh€t on for coming to MCPS. What other profession doesn’t recognize your years of experience in salary? I have 20+ years of experience but MCPS will only pay me for 8 because of their stupid cap.

Anywhere from 54-118. Doesn't matter what grade level. It's based on number of years and education level. Year 1 with a bachelor's is 54. Year 25 or higher with a master's plus an additional 60 credits of grad level classes is 118.

I'm in my 6th year, I have my master's plus 60 and make 74. (There are supplements for some other certifications for some positions, but for the sake of simplification...)

Same. I'm a former bench scientist that decided to pursue teaching due to my love of science. I'm leaving MCPS as soon as I find another job. I am not renewing my cert. I have never been so disrespected from a place of employment in my life. They are destroying us bit by bit.

Yeah, every teacher I speak to is counting the days/years to retirement. Few talk about staying on once reaching full retirement.

It won't. First of all, no amount of money will keep my colleagues in the building after this year. This year has been insane. So many people have already quit. Second, anyone trying to stay in the teaching profession (in this areas)2 , will likely move to DCPS. I know I am. Three friends across different counties are. 5 in MCPS. 2 are going abroad. It will only continue to get worse.

Yeah, I expect it to basically be just a $100 pay bump every two weeks for me after taxes. We need a real raise adjusted for inflation. The new budget adds $113 million to increase pay and benefits for 24k workers. A bit over $4k per employee so still below inflation for most staff if stick only to averages. I am not seeing how this can turn around the teacher shortage. DC and PG got much bigger increase this Fall.
