Ok Melanie, Susie, Matt, and Linda you got reimbursed by the PTA so quit complaining.

Actually, I paid for it out of my own money. Not sure you know too much about focus schools but our PTAs aren't exactly bringing in tons of money. I love when people show their ignorance for all to see. Bless your heart.

Whatever the policy is, it should be schoolwide. If some teachers are doing it, the entire school should be doing it. Check with your principal.

Our ES does a fall harvest, winter celebration and Valentine party (pass out Valentine's, snacks). We do not have room parents so the teacher usually puts out a note asking for donations. The party is usually about an hour long and it is typically the kids doing a teacher led theme based fun activity. What I like is that the school/class opens up for any parent/relative to attend. It's a title 1 school. There have been about 2-5 people that attend in my DC's classes and when I walk past other classrooms I see classes that don't have people attending.

Depends on the school. Our school does not do it.

Yes in our school. There is a Valentine’s party as well. You either bring cards for all students or no students.

My K student's school has Halloween parties in each classroom, coordinated by room parents. Caregivers have the option to opt their kid out of the room party. Those students will go to the all purpose room for a fall harvest festival.

This is what our school does. The PTA collects a one-time donation to fund all three.
