No I mean the schoolcast.

That’s a long way away. But I’m a weather geek, so I think it’s fun to see what might be on the horizon

OP here. I know the storm is still a long way away and I know that it is too early for actual snow forecast, but I'm always amused to watch wunderground's 10 day outlook switch back and forth between rain and snow with every model run update. I posted here mostly to put it on folks' radar because of the pre-holiday timing. What is sure is that there will be some sort of storm affecting the entire east coast 12/22-12/24, and if you are traveling it may affect your plans. Personally, if I was driving to Florida, I'd leave Wednesday evening.

I follow Justin Berk (out of Baltimore) https://justinweather.com/ rather that Capital Weather Gang. Justin provides more analysis and comparison between weather models. He also has a better understanding of the split geography of MoCo (I live upcounty) and Howard county and his snow/ice boundaries across the county have historically been closer to reality than other weather prediction maps.

BTW - Friday night GFS model is colder and has more snow and European model has more rain, but both models show storm arriving later Thursday. Now I think that school on Thursday won't be affected at all, and we will be glad that Friday is the start of winter break.

More than likely, the snow on 22nd will come in later in the day. I predict *maybe* early closing on 12/22.

Schools consider early closing to be the absolute worst case scenario. If they have any sort of suspicion they can't have a full day of school, they will cancel school. Imagine the nightmare of sending kindergarten kids home early on the bus when their caregivers might not be expecting them because it's not their normal time? No. They won't do that.

MCPS has closed early for inclement weather several times before, and I don't see why they wouldn't again if the timing were such that it made sense.

Well, they have, but they were excoriated for doing so. Even when we ended up having a blizzard.

Why are you posting in MCPS?

It’s already looking like it’ll be rain.

I only see a possible 1 to 3 inches of snow. Not 6 in.
