Yes. This is what you have to do.
The problem is that a person must have skilled needs to go to a LTC facility - like nursing care because they can’t toilet themselves, get out of bed without assistance, etc. And if there are no rehab goals them Medicare will not pay for SNF - so you can refuse to leave, but you will be billed.
ALF is private pay. You can call A Place for Mom and tell them your budget, and they might be able to find a small Assisted Living (the kind that is often housed in a neighborhood SFH), or something else within budget.
