My kids love chocolate chip cookies and always want to make them. For a holiday version, we add the red and green M&M's to the mix. May not seem holiday-ish, but it's what my kids want to make. And frankly, if it weren't for the kids, we wouldn't be making any holiday cookies, so what they want is what we make.

The minute someone tells me they make these every year I know they are not a good baker.

What cookies do you dislike receiving?

What cookies do you make, OP?

Biscotti- cranberry pecan
Amaretti
macarons
Italian 7 layer
pecan sandies
jam thumbprints

made thin mints one year

Depressing list of dry cookies.

so what do you make? what is your non-depressing list?

Worst holiday cookies? I enjoy most but I would also skip Thumbprints with jam, or anything with fruit/cranberries.

I hardly ever make cookies because they're like potato chips. You make a batch of cookies, they will disappear before the day is over.

When I was younger I used to make tons of elaborate cookies, arrange them attractively in a tin and give them out as Xmas gifts. I enjoyed the process.

The recipe is usually on the bag of Hershey Kisses this time of year.

They put it on their website now, Hersheyland.

+1. Also peanut brittle (even though it’s really a candy).

Ah, pretty cookies that no one actually enjoys.

Thumbprint cookies. Jam belongs on toast, not in a cookie.

Those are fighting words, OP! Peanut butter blossoms is the TOP holiday cookie in our household. We already made, and ate, two batches 🤣

Not 100%, obviously, but I’ve noticed that people who brag about their baking skills are often not that great at it. And I’m always touched by homemade gifts, no matter the skill level of the baker.

They are a cookie you make with your kids or a cookie that your kid makes on their own. DD(12) has declared that they are "her" cookies to bake.

I dislike any dry cookies and cookies with nuts in them. No allergies, we just don’t like nuts or cranberries in baked goods.

Leave it to someone on DCUM to start a braggy, mean-spirited post in the Food forum. Happy holidays, OP!

Right?

Also, my grandmother used to make those cookies, and she was an AMAZING baker and candymaker. But she liked those, and so did her friends and family, so she made them. Good bakers can bake simple things, too.
