My ILs asked for list once we had our first child. They never bought from them. I stopped making lists after the third year. Yes, what my kids want and need is another bible. The first 7 were just not enough Jesus for us.

My mom does this too!!!!! I make a list and share it with her and MIL. She whines about the list. Then about a week before Christmas she starts asking “but what do you REALLY want?” Yeah everything is now gone. And then she’s pissed on Christmas when the kids gush over the gifts my in-laws give them. I cannot win!

Whereas my in-laws make a list, I go through it and buy things they’d love on Black Friday. Done. We’re all happy on Christmas. I spend more time with my kids than shopping.

+1 I have a no bs relationship with my mom. If she pulled something like this then asked the next year for a list, I'd straight up tell her "why? Not like you got anything from the list we sent last year." 🤷‍♀️
