We prefer to focus on the decorating aspect so prefer a “prefab” house kit to assembling our own.
This is OP. I wouldn't eat them, but I want to invite some kids over to decorate and I'm sure they'll want to. Id rather get some that actually taste edible.
Kids aren’t going to eat the actual gingerbread. None of them taste good since they are made to be harder and sturdier than a gingerbread cookie. They kids will only be eating the candy. But just know assembling them isn’t a quick process. You have to do it in stages, carefully, letting it harden a bit between steps, then ideally sit overnight before decorating. Having a bunch of young kids over to assemble and decorate at the same time will be a disaster. Older kids could do it, but under 8, you either need to assemble ahead of time or buy pre assembled.
