One activity I found surprisingly satisfying this past winter was shelling nuts. Back in the day my parents always had nuts in the shell hanging around, along with crackers and picks. I never got it. During Covid I had a ton of pecans to shell from my parent's tree. I put on satellite radio, got a class of wine and shelled away. It was surprisingly calming. I made an awesome pie this Thanksgiving.
Ok I didn’t think I had an answer to this question, but this reminds me how much I enjoy shucking corn. Was always the chore my mom assigned me and my sister as kids and brings back memories of sitting on our back deck (my mom didn’t like when the threads were in the kitchen, so this was always an outside job). Still love it as an adult.

I do this too, but mostly on city streets.

There are lots of trails near where I live. I love to pick up trash and make the trails look pretty and clean. And I have also been spreading native wildflower seeds at the sides of the trails since the pandemic, and it is wonderful to see some of the patches bloom and look very colorful. It just makes me very, very happy.
