Yes, St. Andrew's does, but it didn't see to be very effective. Our daughter attended a homecoming party and alcohol was present. The parents who's house the kids were in knew and did nothing.

This is not the school's fault.

FYI - you'll get none of that when once you hit the HS.

I mean the communication.....not sure about the programming because the lack of communication (and a kid that is historically and chronically a non-sharer).

We were so disappointed in that 8th grade program and a "one and done" doesn't count as education. Bullis does not have an effective program for that nor for any type of sex ed/family life program that we could tell.

Yes, Sidwell explicitly does this in “9th Grade Studies”. DS is 2022 grad.

They themselves are probably drinkers and have raised their kids telling that drinking is okay.

Sidwell parent of senior here. Sidwell does. They just fold it into mental health programming.

I really like the way Gonzaga does their program. Parents and teens participate but you aren’t with your own teen.

New poster here. This is a classic example of where Sidwell's "keep parents at arm's length culture" fails. As a HS parent, we have never gotten anything saying the school covered drug/alcohol abuse programming. So if they have covered it, it's no surprise that some parents don't know about it. I will say that there has been much publicly announced support for the sad event and reports to parents of other types of mental health programming, but nothing about programming for this specific topic.

If it is true that Sidwell doesn’t do this, that is very upsetting.
