Please step out of your privilege bubble. There are many reasons a parent might contact a teen child’s therapist - abuse, mental illness, trauma, etc.

True, but there is nothing wrong with doing what a PP said and emailing her child’s therapist about something going on so her therapist knows about it. A one-way alert, not a discussion. Otherwise the therapist only knows about what is brought up in sessions.

Is it possible that your daughter doesn't see it as an issue? Is she comfortable with having a girlfriend and doesn't see it as a problem to discuss with her therapist?

Pp here. Of course, but a 14 year old might nor have enough experience with therapists to realize that the one that she has isn't a good fit. That's what I understand the OP to be concerned about.

My DC has been in therapy off and on for years and we've seen a tremendous difference between therapists that were or weren't a good fit for him. It can sometimes take a few tries to find one that the child meshes with and trusts, so don't hesitate to change therapists if the current one just isn't meeting her needs.

Pp here. Of course, but a 14 year old might nor have enough experience with therapists to realize that the one that she has isn't a good fit. That's what I understand the OP to be concerned about.
