Beats me - they're off at the kids table. If they create a weird plate, I am not going to worry about it.

There’s not a single food my kids won’t eat at least a few bites of to try it.

That makes me really sad.

It makes you sad that my kids genuinely like to eat and try new food? OK! I guess your little heart will just break when I tell you that my 6yo loves eating sardines and mustard on Saltines with her grandpa.

No, it makes me sad that your child thinks he needs to eat something he doesn't like on a holiday with lots of food choices to please someone else. If your kid wants mustard and sardines then guilting them into eat mac and cheese is as manipulative as forcing sardines and mustard on a kid with different tastes.

6 year old will eat turkey and mashed potatoes and green beans but try most other things. 3 year old will eat bread and fruit.

Green beans and black olives. I got a menu request for “nothing pale.”

Both would always eat turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, rolls. One stops there, the other will add cranberry sauce, gravy, and pumpkin pie. Neither kid has ever really been into stuffing. But then, I wasn’t either as a kid, started kinda liking it in my 20s and now it’s my favorite part of the meal.

I have always thought that everyone should have a plateful of things they like for Thanksgiving.

For one, they will eat everything on the traditional Thanksgiving menu and most of the weird things Aunt Marge brings.

For the other, they will eat rolls, ham, plain steamed green beans, cranberry sauce from a can, fruit salad and chocolate cake.

Turkey, Mac and cheese, green beans, collards, and ham if we have it. Maybe a roll. No dressing - 11 and 12. They won’t even try a spoonful.

Lol. My tween just told me he plans to eat “the marshmallow off the top of the sweet potatoes.”

I think I'm the first one who posted that.

It was a gradual change throughout elementary school, and then a bigger change around 10 when started gaining weight heading into puberty.

I have boys, given that puberty is a big factor, I think it's likely the timeline would be different with girls.

Yesterday, my 5 year old declared that "turkey is her favorite chicken."

Besides that, biscuits. Except this year my MIL is trying some biscuit that they probably won't eat, so who knows.

When my son was 5, it was turkey, plain rice and rolls. Now that he's 20 and a college athlete, it's 3 lbs of turkey, 2 large scoops of plain rice and 6 rolls. Just not into casseroles, vegetables, gravy or sauces. I tried.
