I love DCUM! Only here can people both complain that charter schools don't actually serve the entire city and that they are too white, while also complaining about marketing outreach designed to reach the underserved and making steps to diversity their demographics. As Nick Fury. said, "Damn it, Goose! Pick a side!"
If they truly cared about increasing diversity, they’d do outreach in Wards 7 and 8. They just want to portray themselves as diverse through advertising. That’s gross.
You might want to look up the 92 bus route, which is the route they advertised on in this instance.

New BASIS parent here. The bolded is what bothers me about it. I don't know how much money that cost the school but if the money for that campaign could have paid for any or all of the construction of a post-COVID rooftop safe outdoor space, that's neglectful to the health of their existing students and staff, and a bit maddening.
Another new BASIS parent and I’m also pretty annoyed to see this. They’re non-stop fundraising to pay their teachers better yet they’re doing an advertising blitz? Not cool.
Isn't BASIS owned by a for-profit company?
