Paper plates and other disposable stuff as much as possible.

I'd either do restaurant or tell someone they've got to host.

Balduccis dinner for 6 is $160. Ruth Chris’s thanksgiving meal is $44 per adult. Definitely cheaper than the impossible task of having a dishwasher repaired or new install in one week.

I'd get really sturdy paper plates and flatware and continue on.

The plates are not the problem. Its the cooking part. How much are you actually preparing?

If I were a guest, I would not care if you got turkey-shaped plates plus crystal wineglasses.

Dishwasher part is ordered and can’t be installed before a thanksgiving.
New dishwasher not available for delivery before thanksgiving.
Kitchen has a terrible layout for more than one busy person.

You can buy a new dishwasher from Lowes or Homedepot or whatever today, but it is iffy about installation before Thanksgiving. It always looks doable on the website and then they call and say “actually, installation isn’t for 10 days but we can deliver it tomorrow.”

Installation is the problem. Not OP. She may be able to buy it but getting the dang thing installed is the issue. I have been in OP's shoes.

I would fix the dishwasher or buy a new one if I could afford.

Also, many families don’t use a dishwasher at all and they survive. Lol

Wash the dishes. The only complicated part of this is having someone keep up with the prep/cooking dishes so the sink is clear. Take a break before dessert to start least rinse the dinner dishes.

Anonymous wrote:Personally I’d get a meal in a box and use nice paper plates. Not a fan of plastic silverware so I’d wash real ones.

here's the answer!
