I’d take a week-old Costco pie that’s baked right in front of me by folks wrapped head to toe in sterile gear over the turkey cooked in the house with ten cats by a woman who may or may not have washed her hand after doing that. And “that” is up for interpretation.

We've been getting Costco pumpkin pie for years best tasting pumpkin pie I've had. A whole lot less work and you couldn't make it for what they sell it for. If you would rather spend your time baking one go for it, I'd rather spend my time doing other things .

DP. I don’t think it’s gross in a sanitary (though other PP’s post on moldy pie is noted), I just don’t like old stale baked goods. If I’m going to use the calories on a baked good I want it to be good and fresh.

For real. If I’m going to eat pie, I want it to be good, fresh, and home made.

Yes, still. I have to drive to the grocery store or place an order for supplies the store will inadvertently not have in stock. Costco pie is always in stock, baked, and ready to go.

Costco pumpkin pies are terrible this year.

It's been something we've purchased a few times a year for years now, but not this Thanksgiving.

My one son's bday is in late September and Costco always puts the pumpkin pies out right around his bday. His favorite dessert is pumpkin pie so we always get one for his bday. The one this year was trash. I've never taken any food item back to Costco, but I did with that pie - that's how terrible it was. The crust tasted raw like uncooked flour and the pie filling wasn't mixed correctly at all. Some bites tasted like an overload of spice and others were flavorless.

We waited a few weeks and go another in October as a redo. It was terrible as well. The curst once again tasted like raw flour and was super doughy. Zero crispiness to it except the edges and they had a burnt taste. The filling was fine on that pie and the only reason why I didn't take it back was because my pumpkin pie loving son scraped out the filling and mixed it in with other things throughout the week.

If it was moldy within a few days, it sounds like you are only ok with same day pie?

The pie you buy on Wednesday was made more than a week ago.

Not Costco pies. They literally make them right in front of you, constantly, from now until Thanksgiving.

Is this true? Does the ingredient list contain lots of ingredients that a homemade pie would not have? Like preservatives, natural flavors, high fructose corn syruP. Anybody know?

Yes they make them there- but no they don’t contain the same ingredients you use at home. They do contain soybean/palm oil, corn syrup, preservatives.

Time and price wise Costco takes the win.

I've made pumpkin pies many different ways. The least favorite and the most work used pie pumpkins that I roasted myself. My crowd vastly prefers Costco to homemade, Giant/Safeway/Wegmans/HT, or Mrs Smith.

Finally gave in and stick with the gigantic Costco pie. I'll save my time and energy for dishes that are appreciated.

Costco pie is gross. Just bake one. This shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Especially if someone else is hosting and you show up with a Costco pie as your contribution? So lazy

Some people here have problems with their taste buds. You people seriously can’t tell the difference between fresh and week-old baked goods??
