Got my approval by the time I was in the parking lot leaving, and renewed in 2022 without an issue.

Everyone gets fingerprinted at their first GE interview, that's part of the standard process, FYI.
I had to get fingerprinted at the police HQ ahead of my appointment. Perhaps it was for the expungement process!
