Wait, your 4-year-old is still sitting backwards? Is he/she tiny or something?

I came to post the same thing. Time to break down and get a minivan if possible. My husband dragged me to the dealership kicking and screaming but I do love it. It's only going to get worse when they want to take friends along as well. I keep two of the basic low back boosters in the trunk so that we can be flexible with rides and carpools. There's also SUVs with third row seats, but all the ones I've been in are cramped and wouldn't be good for any type of longer ride.

Leave it buckled. See if she can slip underneath it when getting in.

But yeah, car seat requirements are a big reason why there are so many three-row SUVs and minivans on the road.

I remember there was a lawsuit because a child died in a car accident when the off brand seat belt extender failed.

Can you wrap a section of pool noodle around the buckle to keep it erect and in a good position to click in? I have the hardest time buckling around boosters so I totally get your daughter’s pain. It’s really hard! I have even buckled the booster empty then told my kids to shimmy into it.

Won't she have the same problem? Getting the seatbelt behind the other seats? We moved from the high back to the low back to give her more movement/ vision to get to the seatbelt but it is still enough.

Torn about keeping her in the harness. It is easier with the harness but I don't see the seats changing for another year or so (when 4 is 5) at the earliest. I don't know that being almost 10 and harnessed is the right move. (I know the science and that we are all safer in a 5 point harness but at some point we all change over)

No, bc the Diono is much narrower than a traditional low back booster

I'd find some way to keep the seat belt above the car seat.

We have a minivan, so I would put the older child in the 3rd row personally. But I realize that's not always an option.
