Tunics are dated, do them with an oversized sweater and Chelsea boots.

Faux leather is very much "in" right now, although it's more of the trouser or straight-leg variety. But I'd wear faux leather leggings to something like a Friendsgiving, sure. (I prefer the Commando pair, which look more like real leather, and less casual than the spanx pair.) Do layers on top -- some slim fitting top with a long-ish houndstoth blazer, or an untucked white button-up shirt with a cropped sweater on top. Or maybe an over-sized black and white striped sweater. For shoes -- black lug-sole boots with a slimmer shaft.

I was inspired by this thread to pull mine out to wear with a newly bought pair of lug soled Chelsea boots and a slightly oversized gray cashmere sweater, and a black menswear-style jacket today. I'm comfortable and love the look. It's a cute alternative to my jeans or a regular pair of black leggings -- a bit more fun.

I saw a cute post from an influencer who paired them with a long-ish button-down shirt and a sweater vest over top, and bit loafers. It looked pretty fresh to me and I think it would work well for a friendsgiving

If you already own them, just cruise internet for inspiration on styling. A Friendsgiving seems like a good time to wear leggings and a fairly forgiving atmosphere- not like some intimidating, cutting-edge art gallery show. I’d wear with black combat boots or cute flats. I would avoid the ubiquitous suede bootie. The length of your sweater/top depends on your body and what you want to flaunt/hide. I think a layered look is best to add texture to slick leggings.

Look up Nicole Combs on Facebook. She posted wearing them last week and looks super cute/casual.

i bought a pair right before the pandemic (for a weekend trip that didnt happen). should find an excuse to wear them.

They are not on-trend like they were a couple of years ago but they still work with the right styling IMO. I follow some insta fashion influencers and I've seen them pop up in "holiday party outfit" posts. Although Spanx seems to throw a lot of money at the influencers so maybe it's just for the $$

I think the key is a high shaft bootie with a square or pointed toe and an oversized blazer on top
