As examples, I’ve loved books by Riley Sager, Alice Feeney, and Lucy Foley, as well as the Cormorant Strike series. I can’t stomach books with child abuse/death. Happy to share some of my favorite recommendations for those interested. Thanks so much!

Weird, I specifically couldn't stomach the Strike series given the large amount of child abuse in it.

OP here: I started reading long before I had kids and became more sensitive to that! Guess I won’t be rereading.

Steven L Carter. All of his fiction. Can be a bit pretentious though. Liked New England White the most.

I started this series after reading a rec on dcum last year. I love it!

This is a “private investigator” series? Seems like it would feel contrived.

Ruth ware books to me are similar to Lucy foley books. Both can be hit or miss. Anthony Horowitz has a few mysteries that I found delightful- he has a new one that was either just released or is being released really soon but I’d start with the first one, it’s sort of a series.
