Agree that it sounds normal. My 4.5 year old also can’t figure out the days of the week/time words generally. He has some sense of time, but it’s vague and based on activities (after dinner, we do bath; after Sunday church day the next day is a school day).

My very bright kids couldn’t do those things at 3.5. They did well in HS and are now college students with A averages.

Sounds very typical to me. I have 3 kids (two older girls and a 3.5 year old boy). All 3 hated puzzles. It was the one thing they could not master is preschool. I hate puzzles and so does my husband. Older girls are very smart in one of the best private school in DC and always at the top of their class. Son seems behind, but in my opinion it’s because he is not a people pleaser like my girls are and he has no interest in doing what you want and showing off how good he is. For example, if I ask him to draw a person he will usually just do a scribble and say that’s a “poop” a laugh.
Today I told him he had to draw a card for his school friend and that it was very important because he was going to his amazing birthday party. My son drew two people and a soccer ball… I was really impressed! I am not sure my girls would have done such a good job at 3.5…

My first taught himself to read at age 3.5 ish and was reading books like Dr Seuss books (not reciting from memory as he’d do it even w books he’d never read before) not long after turning 4. My 2nd is now 5.5 and not reading at all…not even sounding words out or anything. And you know what? They’re both very smart they just have different strengths and interests and they think differently.

Your 3 year old sounds very typical to me but if you’re worried, get an evaluation w early childhood intervention services.

My youngest is almost 3.5 and also struggles with puzzles, but it really good at drawing, dressing herself, helping cook. I really wouldnt worry about it. Your kiddo sounds totally on point fir his age.

That was my read as well.

My son knew his alphabet before he turned two. My 2yo daughter speaks better but doesn't care as much/is a middle child so I have less time for her, and she only knows O because it looks like a ball.
