My kid went to Pitt. I don't think any of his HS classmates ever would haver referred to him as a loser. Not the most bookish kid, despite two nerdy parents, but bright and strong enough when it came to personality and teamwork skills that he landed a high-paying job out of college in a major city where he's thrived for years. Pitt was a good fit.

It opened 8/1. Kids like my 2, that wanted an admission they could live with and we could pay for in hand, submitted apps before Labor Day. With rolling admission, every week that passes is a week it get a bit harder.

Interestingly, it was the #3 TJ destination in 2019 when my 2020 kid looked for schools. Behind UVA and WM, AHEAD of VT. CS, Engineering and the program when kids were pre-admitted to med school were big draws. They also had generous merit at the time. It had great word of mouth at TJ and a nice place to live with good STEM outcomes, esp in engineering and pre-med. My kid got in and it was on the list of 4 school he was still considering in April (Arts & Sciences for a degree in natural sciences).

No sure if the post-COVID landscape has changed. But, your kid is a snot.

Ditto. I know parents who not only allowed, but participated, in talking with their DS about other kids using the terms "suck" and "loser". That negative energy bit them all in the collective ass.

Pitt is a (safety) favorite because of its rolling admissions. Most kids around here apply and are accepted in Sept/oct/Nov. Chances decline as time goes by.

I hope my kid would never say any school is for “losers”.

I don't have a dog in this fight because my DC was accepted (don't know if they'll enroll). But I don't know why people would think that if they personally don't know anyone rejected then there must be close to 100% acceptance. And why do you need to post to suggest that everyone gets in based on whatever your presumably small, anecdotal sample size is? In another thread earlier this fall, someone whose child enrolled, posted that at orientation in August Pitt stated that for the incoming class, the acceptance rate was below 50%. So obviously plenty of applicants are rejected. Are you going to go around and broadcast every school that rejected your kid? I wouldn't. It makes sense that one would hear far more about acceptances than rejections.
