I have a pretty low bar as Elrich is really not great, but Sully doesn't even meet that low standard of not hating kids that get bullied enough as it is. He also fear mongers about Latinos, flat out lied about Asbury, as a Latina that is a big no thanks from me.

I don’t know anything about this, can you explain what you mean? I’m off to Google too.
Not that poster but it means he held a meet and greet at Asbury and residents expressed concern about crime. And they probably are concerned. That doesn’t reflect actual risk, however.
He said residents in Asbury are afraid to leave their homes. He was obviously embellishing what he heard from residents. All you have to do is go there and see residents walking around.

I voted for Elrich. Does that bother you?
Pro Elrich. Pro Lula. Pro Workers. Pro Unions.
Anti Fascism and anti Corporatism.
I got to celebrate Brazil’s victory by voting for MoCo’s victory. It makes me proud to live in a place that rejects the Right Wing.
Let the clutching of the pearls continue!
He's been the leader for four years, yet over his term in office, we have
increased poverty
increased homelessness
increased office space vacancies (meaning less business)
increased crime in lower income and minority communities
decreased school performance
Those indicators hurt lower income people the most. Marginalized communities.
How do you reconcile your vote with that?
Replace Elrich with Riemer as CE and all of these indicators get even worse.

“We need to feel safe where we live, work, play and worship. I believe we need to control crime. Look at Lakeforest or even [Westfield] Montgomery mall, where I worked my way through school,” he said. “MS-13 is taking control of Germantown, Gaithersburg. People in Asbury [Methodist Village, a senior community] don’t even want to go outside of the house. We have armed carjackers here in Montgomery County, something we would have never heard of 30 years ago.”
Spokespeople for the Montgomery County Department of Police and the Gaithersburg Police Department could not be reached immediately Sunday for comment.
Cathy Canning, senior director of marketing and public relations for Asbury Communities, on Monday morning called Sullivan’s comments about Asbury “categorically false” and “fear-mongering.”
“We have 134 acres with a 17-acre nature preserve with woods. Residents are out walking around the community at all times of day and evening,” she said. “People are going back and forth all the time into the community.” She followed up with an email citing a recent resident survey that showed 93% of respondents felt “very safe.”

Anonymous wrote:Elrich is generally pretty awful, across the board. The one thing he's done thats decent is push back on the frenzy of online yimbys who would pass thrive even if the planning board shot their mother in the face on Fenton Avenue.
Thrive may well be a good plan- but the fact that it was pushed through a week after the entire planning board was thrown out for about 5 different scandals, tell you it was always a done deal no matter what.
Elrich wanting a sober (no pun intended) review of the work, before rubber stamping it- was at least something.
Wish Blair would have won, but it is what it is.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Do you think your negative tone (“Does that bother you?” “clutching of pearls”) is useful? Do you realize it contributes to a me-vs-you environment in Montgomery County?
Yes, because I love making fun of the spoiled, whiny, speak-to-the-manager, upper middle class to exceeding wealthy who think they know what's best for everyone. I love watching them squirm and cry when they realize that normal working people don't agree with them. When the DCUM demographic is unhappy, I'm happy. This especially goes for anyone on the Finance forum. Eat the rich!
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Do you believe we should continue implementing his task force plan to reduce MCPD, in spite of increased crime in the county?
No, nobody is reducing MCDP. At the very most, there is a chance of reallocating the duties of the police, as in having them focus more on actual law enforcement and violent crime rather than mental health issues without imminent violent threats.
