? In my neighborhood T o T is always Halloween night so this year that’s Monday night.

Yup - everyone just went out really early, and it didn't rain until maybe 7 or 8, it was fine.

That's generally correct. We can tell when a low-pressure system is coming and where it's going, but for an event like this, a couple of hours in the timing will make all the difference, and that's not something we can predict a week out!

Umbrellas, ponchos, going until kid gets bored.

I live in a very, very rainy climate. Kids go fast in the rain and use clear ponchos for fabulous costumes, umbrellas otherwise, or nothing if they don’t care. If there’s a downpour involved, ToT will fizzle out early so I start giving bigger handfuls of candy the harder the rain falls. If we cancelled for rain, kids would only get to ToT every 3-4 years!

The point is, it's not a guess, its a prediction based on a long range model(s). *I know* because I am in emergency management and work closely with meteorologists regularly. To say "No one has any idea what the weather will be at this point" when we are 6 days out is incorrect.
