We are teaching kids to be disrespectful lackluster turds. Meanwhile new teachers have to deal with this disrespect tithe point of violence in the classroom and pressured to inflate grades to the point of fraud. I remember the classroom mantra mcps to get the kids motivated was to stay " just write your name at the top of the paper for your 50%. Then kds would test the system and not even do that. Then that turned into not even showing up and demanding 50% from the teacher. Then the end of the semester comes and the principal wants to know what we can do to make them pass and it is implied that the teacher will be punished if they don't find a way of making up numbers. Why do we keep lowering standards and punishing teachers and punishing the good kids who want to learn. Then teachers are fired bc they know too much about the fraud that they were forced to do under threat if being fired. It's no wonder there are no more teachers.

If you can handle class sizes, 60+ hr work weeks, being told to pass kids along, assault from students, no support from admin etc then you should quit

This test is usually given to about 2000 students in the Baltimore area. I don't remember the last time MCPS students were in included

Only a sample of students take the test to produce scores for Maryland and the nation. There are no scores for individual students or Montgomery county.

But sorry, virtual learning and cutting the number of days during the pandemic HAD to have impacted Maryland scores. We are below the national average in 3 of the four tests and the same as the national average in one.

75 percent of Maryland eighth grade students and 69 percent of fourth grade students are at or below basic achievement in mathematics.

4th grade reading - Maryland below national average: Maryland’s fourth grade reading average scale score is 212, down from 220 in 2019. In comparison, the national average scale score is 216.
Maryland’s eighth grade reading average scale score is 259, the same as the national average scale score.
Maryland’s fourth grade mathematics average scale score is 229, down from 239 in 2019. In comparison, the national average scale score is 235.
Maryland’s eight grade mathematics average scale score is 269, down from 280 in 2019. In comparison, the national average scale score is 273

NAEP I think is MAP testing. Yep, scores dropped across the country. Why is that a surprise. But some progressives don't think there was a learning loss. They claim there was "learning differently". SMH

No. NAEP is not MAP, and has a totally different scoring structure. The NAEP scores being discussed here are on a 500 point scale and proficient is around 299.
