Because then people will have to realize that voting for the council and county exec who are allowing this to happen was the wrong thing and they would never admit that.
The county council has nothing to do with this. You sound insane.

Are you saying that local politicians have no influence over crime? I disagree. Crime can increase or decrease as a direct result of public policies that are out in place by our local politicians.
You do truly get what you vote for.

Well, the car jacking at Rockville Town Center a few weeks ago was at around 11:30am and I barely saw much about it on the news. The high school was on lockdown. But kids from RM go hang have lunch at Town Center often. They caught the DC teens who did it near Rockville Pike/Gude Drive later.
I guess it is the new normal.
The teens carjacking is an epidemic. I think it’s because teens want a car, and they’re hard to steal now. They want a car with a key, and that means carjacking someone. It’s so dumb and they have no plan except to ride around and then ditch the car. They’re too stupid to realize how easy it is for someone to get killed. We need the car companies to come up with technologies to prevent this ASAP. There needs to be a fast way to disable and recover the car. Possibly also we need dash cams, although I was on a carjacking jury where the stupid kids took their own pictures of themselves in the stolen car, then posted them to social media. So the level of idiocy is extremely high.

Cars have been stolen off of Old Georgetown Rd for decades, easy access to 495. All of a sudden you are worried about cars?
No no, I’m not worried about the cars! It’s the people. Getting carjacked is very dangerous. There was that horrible incident in the Navy Yard where a man was dragged and killed. Also it’s just really traumatic, much more traumatic than having your car stolen. But mainly the problem is the risk that it goes wrong and the kids use a weapon. I’m saying that making cars less appealing to carjack could help, just like theft deterrent technology has made them harder/less appealing to steal. It’s like phones, right? Phones used to get stolen a lot. Now there’s no point to stealing a phone for most petty thieves.

If you look at the data on this it’s largely untrue. Policies matter but in general crime goes up or down because of bigger factors. County councils don’t cause huge policy changes that can affect crime. I do think unofficial police strikes can, but that’s not policy.
Moral in the police is low, and they are having trouble recruiting. That is largely due to council policies of "defund the police", or "police are bad".

Few large cities are governed by Republicans — only 26 of the 100 largest U.S. cities have Republican mayors — making apples-to-apples comparisons difficult. But cities that do have Republican mayors do not have lower murder rates than similarly sized Democratic-led cities, the study found.
