I'm a FCPS HS teacher who actually likes e-hall pass.
Even the students with good grades meet up with their friends in the bathroom for a quick break in the period, btw.
Kids can make their pass on their phones (all HS students still have them) or on their FCPS laptops. All I have to do is click "approve".
But our school knows who the "bad" kids are (remember the TikTok challenges destroying school property?) & knows who vapes together for 30 minutes. They know which kids skip all of 3rd period & hang out together in the bathrooms (eww). The program won't let those kids be out of class at the same time -- the pass gets denied. That's a good thing.
I actually like it because it holds kids accountable. Yes, the vast majority of kids aren't the troublemakers. But if they ask to leave my class "to see their counselor" or "to run to the office" or whatever, then the counselor or the office have to click when they arrived. Loads of "good" kids waste a lot of time out of class.
