Mine placed out of Calc (5 on AP), Multi Var (took umd test) and Linear Algebra. Math major at an Ivy, doing great. Schwartz prepared them very well and is highly qualified academically. He could easily be teaching at umd.

The only bad math teacher mine had was a guy. He does not give good feedback or answer questions (he literally says "I'm not going to answer that") or explain. He wastes his planning period trying to act cool and "hang" with students from other classes and told the class he was on Twitter when he should have been grading. Grades late. Full of bias and fosters a bro culture.

But, the rest were fantastic-- so passionate about the subject matter and great teachers. In depth teaching of the material with proof based everything. Students really understand the underlying concepts. Mine is a freshman in college and already halfway through a math major because of the excellent math teaching at Blair.

My Blair SMACS kid was in a math class taught by Mr. Schwartz, who has an advanced math degree (MA or PhD, forget which), and the students got university credit after taking a test created and administered by the math department at the U. of Maryland.

My magnet kid also placed out of both semesters of intro calc (5 on Calc BC), linear algebra, discrete math, the first two CS classes, and an additional 3-4 gen ed requirements. Maybe ten classes in total. Made it easy to graduate with an MSCS in four years.
