Getting visas is getting harder. It would be nice if the feds would make it much harder, but its still hard enough to cut down on the number of applicants. Covid zero closures probably don't make obtaining one in China easier
I'm personally fine with using merit except for helping educate anyone who originate from a hostile country (Russia, China) in STEM since that's not in the US's best interests.
I wish they would stop accepting Russians. I’m looking at you, American University, which educated a Russian spy recently.
and Chinese. Look at all the stealing.

Anonymous wrote:DCUM is so bad at math. No, the schools you care about will never be easier admits. Never. Quit thinking there's a demographic shortcut to get Larla into Penn. There's just not.
Community colleges, regional publics, and poor privates will get hammered by demographic shifts. Nothing in the Princeton Review's top-however-many-it-is-these-days will feel even a nudge.

But aren’t the international students usually competing against each other for a set number of spots they set aside for international students? I don’t think schools take spots for domestic students and give them to international ones.
Emory is currently at 20 percent international students, according to their own info session. Got to think that number has been increasing over time.
