My DD is 5-10 and has a TYR adult Medium. I would get your son a large so he has room to grow. The new TYRs dry sooo fast, her younger brother has the newer version and it dries much faster.

Anti swim parka lady, can you share your bag brand since it’s roomy enough for a swim parka let alone for one to get just?

"new to winter swim" poster shows their naïveté by saying it will end up at the bottom of their swim bag- have you ever tried to fit a men's large insulated parka in a swim backpack? Impossible.

"several pairs of sweats" will scream "new to swimming in general" or unable to afford.

We did an L for my son at that size. Definitely NOT a "new to winter swim" item per the previous commenter. My son swam through college and was on a travel team for 9 years- literally, everyone had team parkas. We are in California where all meets are outdoors though, but at all the national meets everyone had parkas.

I just got an adult medium for my 10 yo DS who is 5’2” and 100lbs. It’s a little big but it works and I want it to last a few years.

During Covid a bunch of kids came out in bathrobes with hoods so Wd did the same. Now we can use the changing rooms again my 10yoDD showers then puts Jammie’s on with a hoodie to walk out to the car. We’ve only done one meet this season but she showered and got dressed after that too.

This is a dumb post.

We are not new to winter swim. The reason why I got a swim parka is because I noticed other kids wearing them when we were new to winter swim many years ago.

A swim parka is too large to end up in the bottom of their swim bag. So maybe you don't know what a swim parka is.

Putting on sweat pants is a dumb suggestion. The sweatpants will be wet and uncomfortable almost immediately. Soggy ass anyone?

So true! Lol No way any of my kids are putting on sweat pants after swimming and I’d love to see you fit a swim parka in a swim bag!

You must be a troll, or really bitter about a lost parka? My DS would be absolutely freezing and miserable without his parka. Sometimes when it's extra cold he wear it as well as pj pants, etc. We are in a Northern state and I can't imagine getting through the winters without it.

Most kids wear them in the winter. They don’t fit in the bags.

I also find the opposition to swim parkas bizarre. We got them in covid when we had to come and go in our suits. They are great. My kids love them. Yes, they are damp on the inside but we hang them to dry along with the swim suits.

My 16 yo is 6'2 and 145. I got him a large in a Speedo coat because of his shoulders and he has plenty of room. He also resisted the parka for years, but agrees to wear it when he swims outside. He likes it and it keeps his collection of hoodies/sweats dry.

Younger kid is 5'2 and about 100lb. He also wears a Speedo coat in an adult XS. It is plenty large on him.

If your team coats don't come with your gear package, I recommend getting a coat that does NOT match the team parka. It makes it easier for the kids to find their parkas on deck. (My younger one can lose anything, so we do the same with his gear bag.)
