If you're not familiar with IB you may not be aware: the point is that the curriculum is held to a single standard: therefore, the class offerings are standardized.
But the true IB diploma courses don’t start until 11th grade. Does Kennedy use the IB Middle Years Programme for 9th and 10th, or is it a locally-created curriculum?

The classes are cohorted but it's not a magnet level 9th grade English class?
RMIB has RMS English 9 - only open to magnet students, I think.
