This isn’t true. Moving my kid to a regular bed at 3 didn’t cause sleep disruption. Like OP’s child, mine was capable of climbing out but didn’t, and that attitude continued after the move. It also helped with the last mile of potty training (100% self initiating) because it was now simple to get out of bed, use the bathroom, and go back.
It’s just not true that all kids go through a phase where they won’t stay in bed. Plus, some kids might go through that phase at 5 or 6. Should you keep a child in a crib until 6?
