What does it say that it's also ED college submission day for a lot of students?

And the day after late-night Halloween parties. My senior is still in bed. It's been a very stressful October so happy to give her a mental health day.

Yes, it is stressful to have a choppy schedule with numerous singleton days and long weekends off prohibiting any development of a sense of routine and flow.
But come on. They have had lots of days off since the beginning of school. Last week was a 4-day week and they'll even have 2 more days off next week. Is it really that unreasonable to go one full week of school?
"Senior skip day" is a stupid tradition in the first place. But if you're going to have it, at least have it at the end of the year when they're basically done with everything and doesn't matter. That's how it used to be...and only ONE skip day - not one now and another one later!

huh?

what don't you understand?
I don't understand why October was so stressful that the girl needed another day off for mental health. There have been several days off already and next week, she'll have two more.
Or is it the senior skip day comment you don't understand?

We always had Senior Skip Day in the Spring at my Fairfax Co high school...Spring=Senior slump. It made more sense.

Yep! I didn't skip on my senior skip day. I guess you could say I skipped senior skip day! I enjoyed the laid back, goof-off with the teachers and classmates in class days.

I was told today was "senior skip day" at Wakefield.

Somehow, my senior (WHS) was unaware of when the PSAT (and therefore no school for seniors) was; but reported yesterday that today is senior skip day. I said, "you don't have to skip."

Senior Skip at YHS, too. I don't think the timing is a coincidence.

I do read the emails. That's how I learned it was supposed to be an asynchronous day - something my senior was unaware of, despite knowing it was a day to stay home.
Why is it so freakin' hard for people to admit that just possibly a school could have done better and it isn't necessarily always the student's or parents' fault?

It is good for them to do that while you are still around to help them. They need to learn this before college.

My sophomore "problem solved" by asking an older sibling. How they're supposed to problem solve the school's lack of communication about something they were unaware of in the first place is, indeed, challenging.
I'm all for instilling independence; but this was a silly response to this situation, PP.
