So with 3 kids, I should be able to buy on average 150 pieces. Hand out and done.
I buy like 400 between Trunk or Treats and my own door hand out. Sometimes more. We did end up with extra last year. Glad I didn’t run out …
But, WHY do we need to hand out AND come home with ~200 per kid. It’s insane.

Costco is pretty pricey. I remember getting a large bag for $15. Now the bags are smaller and pricier.
Thanks for the tip about Walmart.
See, I think this is just annoying, and I’m not anti-sweets/candy like much of DCUM. Kids get plenty of candy and they don’t need single houses going overboard. When people give away full size candy bars or bags of candy, that’s less about the kids than about themselves. Don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. You’ll drive yourself crazy doing it, and be nudging expectations towards excess.
One small candy item, regardless of kind, is enough to support the community effort and to treat the kids in the community. Kids may have preferences in candy, but price point isn’t what they’re judging by.
You are making a negative judgement about an action that could also be considered generous depending on how you view giving out full sized candy bars. We have been that house and we did it for the kids and they have much more joy than you do. We did not do it for ourselves because if we had we would have eaten them!
How about you dont judge our full sized bars and we won't judge your small sized ones? Cool?
Anonymous wrote:My house will either be a hit or egged this year because I bought mini cardboard airplanes and mini playdohs when they were on super sale on Amazon and also grabbed some giant boxes of fruit snacks from Costco. Go shopping deals I actually got them all for a lower price point than a fun size candy bar.
Then do dum drums, the kids will appreciate the change and the6 are getting plenty of candy.Anonymous wrote:Op here: our neighbors do full-size candy or quart bags full of stuff so I am embarrassed to put out just dumdums.
