Yes. Love the pineapple and watermelon-flavors; root beer, yuck.

Smarties are trash

DumDums for the win for cheap candy.

Oh man I love smarties! And for whatever reason I must eat them in 3’s.
My kids don’t care for them, though.

Dum drums ar great. My kids also love the cheap non-candy toys - witches fingers, finger puppets, etc that you can order online in bulk.

So with 3 kids, I should be able to buy on average 150 pieces. Hand out and done.

I buy like 400 between Trunk or Treats and my own door hand out. Sometimes more. We did end up with extra last year. Glad I didn’t run out …

But, WHY do we need to hand out AND come home with ~200 per kid. It’s insane.

I do not understand why you buy candy to give out based on the number of kids you have. The amount you give out and the amount your kids come home with are completely unrelated.

Sounds like a good old traditional Halloween just isn’t for your family. Maybe just keep your kids home.
My house and neighborhood are big on Halloween and my kids come home with TONS of candy. We all love it!

I just ordered my full size bars from Costco and I usually buy about 300 (we have a very busy ToT neighborhood - I will even likely run out!) and spent about $300. But my Halloween budget is bigger than my Christmas budget so I’m going with it.

How about you tell your kids to only to 10 houses and not take more than one piece of candy? Why do have to group think on this?

Costco is pretty pricey. I remember getting a large bag for $15. Now the bags are smaller and pricier.

Thanks for the tip about Walmart.

See, I think this is just annoying, and I’m not anti-sweets/candy like much of DCUM. Kids get plenty of candy and they don’t need single houses going overboard. When people give away full size candy bars or bags of candy, that’s less about the kids than about themselves. Don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. You’ll drive yourself crazy doing it, and be nudging expectations towards excess.

One small candy item, regardless of kind, is enough to support the community effort and to treat the kids in the community. Kids may have preferences in candy, but price point isn’t what they’re judging by.

You are making a negative judgement about an action that could also be considered generous depending on how you view giving out full sized candy bars. We have been that house and we did it for the kids and they have much more joy than you do. We did not do it for ourselves because if we had we would have eaten them!

How about you dont judge our full sized bars and we won't judge your small sized ones? Cool?

My kid would pick the airplane or playdoh over candy. Great idea!
