Exactly. 11 AM on a Tuesday and they were committing felony assault and car jacking with a gun instead of being in school.

Clearly safer for the rest of the kids in school that these fine young scholars were not present.

I agree. And our crime rate will continue to increase. I really hate the all-or-nothing "reform" that progressives engage in. These issues are much more nuanced. They should have continued to allow for detention, while still building out services for better placements. Most juvenile justice involved kids aren't committing horrible offenses. But there are definitely those who do -- who are a true danger to the community. And now we have tied our own hands.

That’s not his stand your ground work , you can literally have a parking space situation and shooting is legal. Or be walking to your dads with skittles and a hoodie and be shot legally.

The murder rate in red states is way higher than any liberal state. Also, let’s talk suicide by gun in red states.

The recividism rate for youths in community detention is a lotttt lower than youth held in confinement facilities. Prisons & jails just make things worse.

The should have at least been held the maximum 72 hours before arraignment. This is a very serious offense and thankfully Maryland is not DC. There’s no Youth Offenders Act that will give them a slap on the wrist.
