If you're in NoVa, The Falls Church Episcopal in downtown Falls Church. (Not to be confused with the Falls Church Anglican on Rt 50.) Retired Bishop Gene Robinson preached there this past weekend and was amazing.

I found one (Commonwealth Baptist, but visited a few others) by googling "open and affirming churches near me." This is church speak for gay friendly. You want a church that says this explicitly on their website.

We've tried several Unitarian churches. They were all extremely welcoming, but there weren't a lot of other gay families.

That's actually good. I'm the one who mentioned the reconciling UMC churches. Our former pastor, Rev Stephanie Vader, is an amazing pastor. She was reassigned last year to Capitol Hill UMC. You should visit and try it out. The good thing about UMC is that everyone is welcome whether you are a member, a guest, or a visitor. I know that Rev Stephanie is very welcoming to LGBTQ+. When she was with our church, we had a gay reverend on staff there and they were and are still good friends. She preaches for an open and welcoming congregation. She teaches that everyone is welcome at the table and everyone is welcome to partake of communion in her church.

If you want to try an Episcopal church, it looks like Christ Church Washington Parish in Capitol Hill has a rainbow flag on their webpage.
