MBHS has over 95 teams or clubs, some of which are entirely student-run, including the Blair Radio Station, "Blazer Pride" Marching Band, Debate Team, and Jewish Culture Club and Philosophy Club.
I love how proponents of super size schools always taught the depth of obscure clubs available and skirt around the impact of academics, administration, and discipline at an unmanageably large school.
Do you mean “tout”? If you’re going to diss a school, make sure you’re sounding educated yourself.

Clearly you know nothing about Blair.
Why you even commented?
Exactly, so many clueless people. The SAT average for the largest cohort common to Blair and any W's shows that Blair scores higher, and they're not even Asians so you can't tell me that its because of the magnet.

Stop pretending that high achieving is a large cohort at Blair, the common cohort represents like 100 kids at Blair and the majority of the kids at the other schools you mentioned while glossing over the best high schools in the county Whitman & Poolesville. If that common cohort is so prevalent to define the school why are their score school wide among the lower of the county even with the magnet inserted specifically to boost scores and perception?
Facts don't lie. The bottom line is when we do a nuanced apples to apples comparison discounting demographic differences Blair wins.

What?
Not all Blair Magnet students are Asian and not all Asian students at Blair are in the magnet.

It's very much like going to a small college. You can go there four years and only know a 100-200 people because those are the people you always took classes with and with whom you are in sports and/or EC. It's also not as supportive as your average SLAC - so, a bit sink or swim in 9th grade. It's not for everyone, but it is a quality education for those that want it.
They have a television station - Blair News Network. They have a national award-winning bilingual newspaper, and they have an award-winning yearbook. They have a 4-0 football team. They have kids that consistently win or place in CSPAN documentary competition and Intel/Science Competitions. The top 1/3 of children have above a 4.5 weighted GPA - and before you say "inflated" - know that very few kids who take the AP Exams score below a 4 or 5 - which tells you that these kids are just damn smart and/or hardworking.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:The school's total enrollment of 3,600 makes it the largest public high school in Montgomery County, as well as Maryland as a whole.
