My kid got 20k per year with a 3.7 UW GPA and 35 ACT. He chose to go to the state flagship.

Half of it says University Grant which is probably need based
Half of it says Dean's Scholarship which is probably merit based

Overall it was little bit more expensive than UVA instate, but well worth it for my kid.
Better fit, Boston, and getting out of VA.

Asian Female. Applied EA to CS & Media Art combined major.
SAT 1530/1540 don't remeber exact.
GPA was like 3.95? plenty APs but had like a couple of Bs on core sbjects. B on AP Calc I think
This is probably why coudn't break into T25ish schools like USC(CS) Cornell(IS)
Northeastern was like frist choice after those T25ish schools.

My kid had one B and a 3.8. Did your child’s school have A+ or A- grades?

When did your kids get the merit money? If a while ago, not sure it would apply now.

My kid had a 3.8 UW GPA and 1460 SAT and did not get merit aid, just to give a sense of where the cutoff may be. She applied EA, was deferred to Spring and offered NuIn.

People should not assume this is the 'norm.' Northeastern only accepted 7% for 2022 (it's previously been explained why) and merit aid (setting aside need-based) does not come easy. This person's kid has excellent stats and probably great ECs, plus could be other unstated hooks.

Oh this was class of 2025. Sophomor now.
Some art related ECs and a couple of city and state level awards.

Last year was a totall blackhole. Hope it goes back to normal this year.

Is it more difficult to get accepted there for undergrad or grad school?

Is the data here useful?

The reason I ask is because the numbers have to be viewed within the school profile, right? One Big Three parent said their child had a 3.5 or 3.8 and that the students overall have lower GPAs at that school yet AOs know the school profile...

I guess you need to work on test prep if interested in merit

So Northeastern pays for just for high test scores instead of high GPAs and elite ECs?

True of merit everywhere.

So not true. Can certainly get merit at schools going test optional. DS got max merit at Case Western and was TO.
