I find it refreshing that many colleges actually put thought and resources into the architecture. Creating an identity for the school and a beautiful environment for the students is a great thing. If someone is an architecture junky it's difficult to enter many campuses and not find something that interests you.

Have always loved Mount Holyoke’s campus. Would love to see Smith’s new library. Penn’s campus is too dense with no flow these days. Yes, the quad is classic college, the University Museum is lovely, as is Franklin Field across the street, and the student union. But the towering hospital is awful.

Surrounded by mountains, with cohesive architecture, and open spaces, Va Tech is surprisingly appealing visually, too.

I still remember the mailers from Smith that I got 30 years ago. Gorgeous. One of these days, I hope to see it in person.

I mean, if you’re spending 4 years of your life there, you should enjoy your surroundings

I am so excited to start our official college tours on Monday with our eldest. I have looked at pictures of the campuses on her list online, but it is so great to see them in person.

As I said above, visiting my campus was when I fell in love with the school. Such a pretty place. I just loved arriving on campus every August. Not only was it pretty, it felt safe.

My daughter has done 3 summer dance programs on college campuses and I was very surprised at the one she liked best, because I thought the buildings were unattractive. The dance studios and theaters were gorgeous though.

Well, my daughter put " a pretty campus" very high on her list of what she was looking for in a college, and she did end up attending one of the colleges on this list.

Northwestern University campus is beautiful and the Lake Michigan setting is spectacular--as are the views of the Chicago skyline.

+1. Northwestern has maybe the best setting for a college in the US, and has architecturally gorgeous sections of campus. Eclectic mix of modern and classical.
