This is a great idea! Maybe include a nice bath thing for mom too. I agree with others on no blanket - I only have one kid and we got at least 6 baby blankets.

I like to make personalized books (like I See Me or others). Things with the kid’s name automatically makes it special.

Meal delivery gift certificate is a good option.
Also nice consumables that they might not otherwise buy or could always use more of.
I give my friends at least a small gift for each baby, because a baby is an important arrival and a blessing. I try to give what they might use or what I know they got rid of.

Burt's bees baby lotion/stuff has been well-received; the nicer organic hand sanitizers and soaps and wipes; a bottle brush, butt cream, lotion, etc. Which was indispensable to you with your kids.

I would not do diapers or formula unless you know the size and what brand to hey use/if they use at all.

This Op. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I was opposed to giving a gift, but I get it. It’s his niece and goddaughter. If we were there I would drop off a nice bottle of wine (she can partake when she’s done breastfeeding) or something similar, say congrats, help out if needed, and be done with it.

I do give gifts for each baby. The first baby is off the registry, and any subsequent babies receive either a nice hard cover book with coordinating a stuffed toy (Make Way for Ducklings with a stuffed yellow duckling) or a pair of pink or blue Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers in a toddler size (to be used later). Both types of gifts seem to be well received, and a nice break from the avalanche of more and more baby blankets

Blanket is a terrible idea.

Oh my goodness who are you people suggesting blankets!!!! You can’t even use them now until looks 6 months. We see gifted probably 10 for my oldest and several for my youngest. The only ones that are special are the ones my MIL actually knitted for each of them.

I’d send: gifts for the older kids to play with (that actually is nice for the parents, helps them be distracted, one cute outfit for the baby or like teething toy and a gift certificate to either a baby store or for a meal delivery.

A personalized blanket is great, OP. Anything personalized, or that is probably in poor shape like a book with flaps or a single stuffed animal.

No one said it baby’s fault. It’s simply not necessary or customary. I did not expect gifts with each child and after the first had everything needed.

We send a gift for every baby. The blanket sounds like a great idea.
