My vet still won’t let anyone in still. I had to euthanize my dog (sudden emergency illness at 13 years old) and begged them to let me come into the clinic with her to say goodbye. I had to wear a mask and was charged a Covid cleaning fee to come into the office on top of the visit cost.

Wow, that’s crazy. Our vet practice doesn’t let people inside either, but the vets retrieve and return pets themselves so that owners can ask questions.

My vet retired during covid and I had to start taking my cats to a new vet. At our last visit in the spring (?), they were still not allowing people in. So I haven't yet met my cats' new vet(s). I understand but of course I'm looking forward to meeting them sometime!

I adopted a dog early in the pandemic and have never set foot inside the vet’s office. The last time we were there (3 months ago), they still weren’t having humans come inside. It’s been fine because I really like and trust the vet. When we pull up at the vet’s, my dog gets really excited and begs to get out of the car. When the vet comes out, my dog wants to love on him. Dog always happily trots inside with the vet, tail wagging, without looking back. We joke about our dog purposely eating things he shouldn’t, just so he can go see his best friend.

I have to admit, I would likely feel differently if my dog was fearful or had a serious health condition.

Friendship Hospital for Animals started letting humans back in 8-9 months ago. Such a relief. My cats tried to claw the poor vet techs and each other to death the one time they had to go in without me.

We are as careful as they come and I get it but there is no way I'd be ok with my puppy going in without us. We did shots at a humane society clinic and they didn't let us go in. They drugged the dog with Benadryl and only told us afterward and it was unnecessary. Our clinic allows us to go in but asks one person only.

Are you happy with the home vet service? I’m considering this for my elderly dog who has never gotten over her fear of cars.

DP but they are really wonderful. They see the pets in a van (though maybe would make an exception if your dog is afraid of even getting in).
