No one is brawling at McDonald’s in the morning when you are dropping your kid at school. You’ll be fine.

It's a big concern if that McDonald's is one of the few businesses we'd considered allowing our t(w)eens to visit by themselves.

It's a perfectly nice Mcdonalds, most times of the day. There should be free coffee for cops late night and school let out time.

My spouse says kids descend on the McDonald's in the PM with their own containers and rush the soda machine, stealing soda until the harried staff find time to intervene.

Ok if your kids are going to Tenleytown after school they are already familiar with the brawling and terrible behavior they happens there basically everyday.

I liked that area better when it was a Roy's and next to it was Johnsons Garden Center. You had Maggie's and Armand's Pizzerias, the old Jennifer cinemas in that office building on the corner. That ice cream shop with the huge waffle cones and a ton of toppings. People were always out in that area having fun. I do remember the theatre they put in later across from the Post office and quite alot of issues there and some stuff in the park behind it. Keg parties that got out of hand. Pretty sure the football brawl mentioned above was SJC and Whitman. Kids climbing the fence and running along River Road to get away from the melee.

The one on the Jennifer Street side that was downstairs? Constant brawls outside and inside between all kinds of kids from every type of school. There were particularly violent groups from Landon and Whitman/BCC always there causing issues. It was worse on weekends as alot of kids congregated there to find out where the parties were so they could convoy to them. Huge brawls a these parties in Potomac and in NW as well. There used to be a movie theatre near that McDonalds on Van Ness, across from the Post Office on Upton and it was always having fights in the 90's when I was living in DC. It was on the news all the time. Its not new people.

I'm from DC and have lived through all the eras you mention. Don't recall anything on the scale of what is being said to have occurred on Friday - if it did. Additionally, that would not make it "right". Brawls are dangerous and the McDonalds is a nice place that serves the whole community--including lots of seniors and I would say from observation homeless camper-outers as well. It should not be the site of ANY brawls.

It would be awesome if somehow that McDonalds would close. I don’t care so much about the recurrent incidents so much as ending the traffic backup from cars trying to take a left into the parking lot, particularly during rush hour.
